Books

We just had to find a space for books in our shop. We stock a small selection of maritime and inland waterways titles, both new and gently-read versions.

If fiction's your thing, we have a wonderful book swap for you to rummage through. Bring a book to exchange, or make a donation to the Shropshire Union Canal Society

We also stock Waterways World magazine and annual, and local canal guides and maps (Nicholson's  and Pearson's).

In addition to the  books in our shop, we have access to a much larger catalogue of titles through our online partner, Bookshop.org. To order books online, please visit our Bookshop.org page here.

FAQs about purchasing books online from Bookshop.org

Can I buy individual books directly through the Talbot Wharf website?

To ensure you have access to the widest range of books, we sell individual books exclusively through Bookshop.org. You can still visit Talbot Wharf to buy our maritime and inland waterways books, magazines and canal guides in person.

Do you still benefit from my purchase?

Yes, we do. The primary mission of Bookshop.org is to financially support local, independent shops like Talbot Wharf.

Almost all of the profit from each book sale goes directly to us (as long as you remember to use our personal link or select us as your chosen bookshop!).10% of each sale goes into a communal pot which is distributed between all of the shops who are Bookshop.org members.
